RESORTS
Our Austrian Golf and Active holidays are based around the resort regions of Kitzbuhel, Zell am See, the Salzburger Lake District and the Thermal Spa Region of Styria each offering a wide choice of hotel accommodation. All of these resorts offer excellent facilities, a wealth of attractions for visitors and are excellent bases for exploring Alpine Golf for either a short break weekend or a longer stay. You can also combine a stay in two or more of these areas.
If you are looking for stunning mountain scenery as a backdrop then Kitzbühel, with its medieval cobbled centre, has some excellent golf courses locally and within easy driving distance.
Zell am See, overlooked by the snow-capped peaks of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier is a popular lakeside resort offering two championship golf courses locally and many more just a short drive away.
Salzburg and the Lake District offer rolling hills in contrast to the jagged peaks of Kitzbühel and Zell am See. Birthplace of Mozart and home to an old town full of character, Salzburg is very much a cosmopolitan City. To the east of Salzburg lies the Salzburg Lake District with its top quality golf courses.
KITZBUHEL
(Salzburg-1 hour ; Munich-1.5 hours)
Home of the legendary Hahnenkamm Downhill ski race, this old town transforms itself in the summer as a stylish centre for golfers, adventure enthusiasts and walkers. Its pretty, cobbled and traffic-free centre offers visitors many up-market shops and pavement cafés in which to sit back, relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery.
Promoting itself as the golfing centre of the Alps, Kitzbühel offers two excellent 18 hole courses and one 9 hole course with many more courses within easy reach. Of these the Golf Club Kitzbühel-Eichenheim gets a special mention for the way the course has been crafted from the mountainside and for its stylish clubhouse.

ZELL
am SEE
(Salzburg-1 hour ; Munich-2.5 hours)
With its peaceful lakeside setting and the snow-capped Kitzsteinhorn mountain and glacier nearby (glacier skiing is possible throughout the summer) creating a real alpine atmosphere, Zell am See has been a firm favourite with British visitors for many years.
The lake at Zell am See offers plenty of water activities and the pedestrianised centre is full of open air cafés and restaurants.
The local Golf Club Zell am See–Kaprun boasts two 18-hole championship and there are a further ten courses within an hour’s drive. Zell am See’s proximity to Salzburg makes it ideal for short breaks and you can also play one of Salzburg’s local courses on your arrival or departure day.

SALZBURG REGION
(Salzburg 15-30 minutes, Munich-2 hours)
Salzburg is known throughout the world as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as a city of incomparable architectural beauty and as a high ranking cultural city. Its historic centre was named as a World Heritage Site in 1997 and Salzburg offers a rich variety of cultural events throughout the year – definitely worth a visit in between rounds. To the east of Salzburg lies the Lake District encompassing the lakes of Mondsee, Wolfgangsee and Fuschlsee. The hills are much less mountainous here and the golf courses arguably some of the best available with the ‘Golf Alpin’ card.

AUSTRIAN THERMAL SPA REGION, STYRIA
If you ask Austrians where the best place is to spend holidays in their country, the majority of them will end up saying: ‘Styria’. Set in the south eastern part of Styria, this region is Europe’s largest natural thermal spa region and is a world apart from the traditional Austrian view of snow-capped mountains.
Rolling hills, sun-kissed vineyards producing quality wines and a well established ‘Wine Route, a ‘Castle Route’ and a sunny climate add to the attraction of the wellness, spa and golf facilities.
And in Graz, capital to the province and Cultural Capital of Europe in 2003,
the medieval town centre (now a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site) offers further sites and attractions.
Similar to the Golf Alpin Scheme, ‘Golf in Thermenland’ offers a pass covering 19 golf courses including several in nearby Hungary and Slovenia.
