or would like to make a reservation, please contact

You don't need the balance and energy of a mountain
goat to play these courses - they are relatively
flat compared to their mountainous surroundings
and a couple of days strolling the fairways breathing
in the alpine air will leave you feeling revitalised,
refreshed and healthy.
All of the golf courses featured
offer lush, well-groomed fairways, a very high standard
of course maintenance and the ever-present backdrop
of Austria's beautiful mountains. The standard of
Club facilities is also consistently high with all
courses offering a bar and restaurant with local
and international cuisine, pro shop, club hire,
lessons, driving range, trolley and buggy hire,
locker rooms and shower facilities (many with sauna
and steam rooms). The Clubhouses are smart yet friendly
and informal and extend a very warm welcome to overseas
golfers.

GREEN FEES and GOLF
ALPIN
Green fees are very reasonable with
prices from £25 and compared to the golf courses
of southern Europe, tee-time availability is excellent.
The
'Golf Alpin' pass offers guests either 3 green fee
or 5 green fee passes valid at any of the Golf Alpin
affiliated golf clubs. The pass is valid on weekends
and public holidays and represents a significant
saving on individual green fees.
In addition, some golf courses offer
discounted green fees when you stay at local Golf
Partner Hotels.

GOLF
IN AUSTRIA
For convenience, we have divided the golf courses we offer into the four regions of Kitzbuhel, Zell am See, Salzburg Lake District and the Styrian Thermal Spa Region. The courses detailed below are a snapshot of the best on offer in each region and all can be played regardless of where you are based (Kitzbuhel to Zell am See for example is 45 minutes drive).
Please note that all golf courses
require soft spikes.
|
| Golf
Club Schwarzsee (Kitzbuhel) |
6093
metres, Par 72
www.kitzbuehel-golf.com
With the mountains of the Wilder Kaiser, Kitzbüheler Horn and Hahnenkamm on all sides, the course starts with a relatively flat front nine before gradually rising up on the back nine to the precipitous par 3 16th (the mousetrap). Long, left or right of this target green and you can guarantee your lie will be far from flat. A great test of golf and once back at the clubhouse, you can look forward to sitting on the recently renovated sun terrace with its great views of the Wilder Kaiser mountains.

|
| Golf
Club Eichenheim (Kitzbuhel) |
6000
metres, Par 71
www.kitzbuehel-golf.com
Ranked in the top three courses in Austria, this is an absolute gem and a must for all golfers! US architect Kyle Phillips has sculpted the mountainside to create some truly stunning holes with clever use of the terrain and its natural elevations. The course maintenance is immaculate and a drink in the imposing and exclusive clubhouse perfectly rounds off what will no doubt have been a challenging and hilly golfing experience.

|
|
Golf
Club Wilder Kaiser (Ellmau) |
|
5906
metres, Par 71
www.wilder-kaiser.com
Named after the mighty Wilder Kaiser mountains under whose gaze the course is set, this 27 hole course offers much more of a challenge than at first glance. A relatively young course that is starting to mature nicely, the well-kept greens will keep you thinking all the way to the Golf Club terrace and its magnificent views.
|
|
|
Golf
Club Kaiserwinkl (Koessen) |
|
6153
yards, Par 72
www.golf-koessen.at
On the opposite side of the Wilder Kaiser mountains to Ellmau and Kitzbühel, golf architect Donald Harradine has carved this course out of the pine forest to provide a great challenge for the golfer where accuracy rather than length off the tee required. The pine trees flanking most holes add to the seclusion and character of each hole and the greens hide a few surprises for the misread putt.

Golf
Club Zell am See - Kaprun |
2
Courses : 6262 metres, Par 72 ; 6003 metres,
Par 73
www.europasportregion.at/golfclub
Tried and tested by the likes of Greg Norman and Bernard Langer, Austria’s largest Alpine Golf centre boasts two championship courses. The golf course ‘Kitzsteinhorn’ and its marginally more difficult neighbour, the ‘Schmittenhohe’, offer 36 entertaining and challenging holes on the valley floor. Both courses make good use of water, bunkers and trees and the Clubhouse patio offers stunning views of the snow-capped Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.
|
|
|
Golf
Club Urslautal (Saalfelden) |
5967
metres, Par 71
www.golf-urslautal.at
Set on a natural plateau under the gaze of the impressive Steinernes Meer mountains, you ease yourself into your round with a couple of relatively short par 4 holes before the course opens up over gentle and undulating terrain. Hay barns dotting the landscape add to the character of the course and the back nine presents several testing holes before you arrive for a well-earned drink at the clubhouse with its relaxed atmosphere and (of course) those mountain views.
|
|
| Golf
Club Mittersill (Mittersill) |
|
5596
metres, Par 70
www.golfclub-mittersill.at
If
you come from Kitzbuhel, the drive over Pass
Thurn (1500 metres) will reward you with fantastic
views of the Hohe Tauern National Park before
descending to the valley floor and Golf Club
Mittersill. This is not the longest of courses
but a good golfing challenge nonetheless.
Rustic hay barns, plenty of water and an island
green to close combine to make this a very
good, tactical test of golf.
|
|
|
Golf
Club Brandlhof (Saalfelden) |
|
6089
metres, Par 72
www.golfclub-salzburg.at
The cascading Saalach river meanders its way through the valley floor and has been well incorporated into this Donald Haradine designed course with six river crossings tempting your ball to a watery grave. Both sides of the flat valley floor are flanked by huge cliff faces creating a real alpine feel to the course and there is no better sight in the Alps than seeing a well-struck ball rise and fall against a granite rock face. .
|
|
|
Golf
Club Mondsee |
|
5952
metres, Par 72
www.golfclubmondsee.at
This is without doubt one of the better Golf Alpin member courses and is well worth the trip even if you are staying outside of the Salzburg area. It is one of the longest courses in the area at over 6,800 yards off the back tees and is laid out around Lake Drachensee. The course really kicks in over the closing four holes with solid and accurate tee shots required to avoid the water and many a good score card has been wrecked over these closing holes. The clubhouse features a ladder into the lake if you fancy a plunge before the 19th (or for those Ryder Cup style celebrations!).
|
|
|
Golf
Club Eugendorf |
|
5675
metres, Par 72
www.golfclub-salzburg.at
The Golf Club Salzburg - Eugendorf is the closest course to Salzburg airport (less than 15 minutes drive) and offers an American style layout with plenty of approach shots over water. The championship course plays long yet is reasonably forgiving off the tee. Far more important here are your approach shots to the greens which are well guarded and are some of the finest and best-maintained we have come across in Austria.
|
|
|
Golf
Club Gut Altentann |
|
6103
metres, Par 72
www.gutaltentann.com
The great man Jack Nicklaus passed this way once creating the Golf Club Gut Altentann which is now ranked in the top three courses in Austria and has hosted the Austrian Open. Behind him he left his trademark hillocks, fairway undulations and some truly enormous bunkers. With a bit of water thrown in for good measure and a relaxed clubhouse created from an old vaulted roofed farmhouse, this course really should be on your ‘must play’ list..
|
|
|
Golf
Club Salzkammergut |
|
5676
metres, Par 72
www.salzkammergut-golf.at
Once played by Prince Edward in 1937 and now approaching its 70th Birthday, this is a mature course set over undulating parkland. Beautiful old trees line the fairways and this course makes excellent use of the natural contours of the land. As we have come to find in Austria, the greenkeeping is of the highest standard with immaculate greens.
