Salzburg is perfect for a short city and golf break and highly recommended for a visit in-between rounds if you are staying outside of Salzburg. Most famous as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Salzburg is a city of incomparable architectural beauty whose historical centre is a World Heritage site and offers a rich variety of cultural events, designer shops, traditional and international cuisine and a vibrant café and bar scene.
To the east of Salzburg lies the Salzkammergut Holiday region which encompasses the lakes of Mondsee, Wolfgangsee, Traunsee and Fuschlsee and idyllic lakeside villages.
The hills are more rolling and less mountainous in this part of Austria and the golf courses arguably some of the best available with the Golf Alpin card. Jack Nicklaus’s course at G&CC Gut Altentann is a must, Golf Club Mondsee is worth a visit for its challenging closing holes and Bernhard Langer’s track at G&CC Dachstein well worth the drive east of Salzburg.
Stay in or around Salzburg or head further east in to the Salzkammergut Holiday region with its pretty lakeside villages and towns including St Wolfgang, St Gilgen and Fuschl.
